Apple, Coco-Cola, McDonalds and Nike are brands recognisable the world over. So is Ferrari and interestingly the iconic Italian luxury sports car manufacturer was named ‘The World’s Strongest Brand’ in the 2019 Brand Finance Global 500 Report.
Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 out of Alfa Romeo’s race division as Auto Avio Costruzioni the company built its first car in 1940. The Second World War halted Ferrari’s dream, which was finally realised in 1947, when the first car bearing his name, the Ferrari125S, was built. From that day on Ferrari race cars dominated the world over, winning race after race and many world championships in Formula One, sports car racing and endurance racing. Ferrari built exclusive sports cars for the road too, but in the early days, this was primarily to fund his motor racing!
The Cavallino Rampate or ‘prancing horse’ was the symbol chosen by Ferrari and like the ‘golden arches’ it is recognised by just about every man, woman and child on the planet!
Enzo was a racer through and through and it was indeed the sale of his road cars that helped to fund his race team.
Ferrari has built some of the most legendary race cars and perhaps the best came from the 1950’s, when Enzo’s ‘red racers’ achieved great success all over the world. Models such as the 340MM, 375MM, 750 Monza, 500 TR, 250 Testa Rossa and the 250 GT SWB have all become legends.
Oldtimer Australia is delighted to offer for sale a Ferrari 750 Monza Recreation.
This car was built as a tool room copy of an original Monza. As the original car was being restored this car was hand built alongside it.
The original Ferrari 750 Monza was powered by a 3.0 litre 4 cylinder engine, whereas this car is fitted with a 3.0 litre V12 engine from a Ferrari 250 GT Pinin Farina Cabriolet Series II.
This car has been used sparingly since it was built and today it presents beautifully. The paintwork is in very good condition, though there is the odd small dent in the lightweight aluminium body. Inside the cabin is minimalistic, yet everything presents exceptionally well. The level of craftsmanship on this car is quite incredible.
As with any Ferrari, the heart and soul is under the bonnet. The engine bay is immaculate on this car and without too much prompting the V12 bursts to life on the push of the starter button. We promise you that this does not sound like your typical Ferrari 250 GT . . . the noise is an absolute symphony of mechanical noises and that exhaust note is about as good as it gets.
On a very short test drive the car performed as expected and it really needs to be taken to a race track and let loose. The car weighs nothing and its performance is breathtaking!
All of the restoration work was undertaken in Australia:

– the body was built by Graeme Smith.

– paint by Bellbrae Panel & Paint.

– engine refresh by John Allen
The car was completed in circa 2008.
The fuel tank bladder has just been replaced and this amazing car is now ready for its next owner.
